Zabaleta: Man Utd abuse proof Tevez right to join Man City

After the abuse he copped in last Sunday's derby, Pablo Zabaleta says Carlos Tevez was right to quit Manchester United for Manchester City.

Zabaleta said: "Carlos wasn't surprised that the United fans were unhappy with him at Old Trafford - but he feels it proves he made the right decision.

"I know Carlos very well. We were friends last year, even though he was at United and I was at City, so I know what his situation was there. The United fans blame Carlos. They shouldn't.

"I know he was happy at United, that he wanted to stay there, and that it was difficult for him to leave. But United missed their chance. When it became clear to him that City wanted him more than United, then his decision was made.

"Carlos has always been a player who gives his team 100 per cent. He helped West Ham to stay in the Premier League and the fans still love him there and he respects them in return. He gave United everything. He won the Premier League and the Champions League. He helped them be successful and to be treated as he was at Old Trafford made him understand that he made the right choice when he came to City. Carlos got my father a ticket for the derby game at Old Trafford last season. My father was amazed to hear the United fans sing, 'Argentina, Argentina'.

"Now Carlos knows the fans weren't genuine because he feels it was not his fault that he left the club. He loves it at City. He is happy that he has joined a club that can achieve great things.

"People say Carlos joined because he wanted money. No, Carlos came here because he saw that this was a club that would reach the top very quickly.

"The City fans love him. They love him even more because he rejected United. Now he wants to make history in blue."
