Sammy Yu is sorry to have left Birmingham City.

The former vice-chairman says Carsen Yeung is the right man to take the club forward.

"I am sad to be no longer part of Birmingham City, but it was the right time for me to do something else," Yu, who last week resigned as football consultant, told the Sunday Mercury.

"I hope in my own way I have contributed and I kept my promise to Carson that I would help him see the deal through and then establish the club. I feel I have done my bit.

"Carson has Birmingham at heart, the supporters should know this. I believe he had the guts to the buy the club - he won't waste it. He is the best guy to take Birmingham forward."
