Youngsters steer DC United past FC Dallas in US Open Cup lead-up game

A very youthful playing team for D.C. United were able to secure a 2-0 victory against FC Dallas in their midweek U.S. Open Cup play-in match.

Following the game DC United head coach Tom Soehn spoke to reporters on why he looked to a less experienced team for the defending cup holders first 2009 US Open Cup game.

Soehn said, "I've said from the beginning that we have a deep team and it was fun to get them on the field and let them show what they're about, their character, the qualities of why we brought some of them here.

"It's probably one of the deepest teams I've coached. So I have confidence in them, because they've shown me every day."
