Manchester United veteran Ashley Young has urged Luke Shaw to stay and fight for his place.

The left-back has come under yet more criticism from boss Jose Mourinho following a dismal performance against Brighton at the weekend.

Shaw has struggled at United ever since Mourinho took the reins at Old Trafford, despite the Portuguese also claiming he can be one of the best left-backs in the world.

When asked what the problem could be, Young told BBC 5Live: "Obviously he's a player that wants to do well, I want to see him doing well.

"It's like all players, you just have to get your head down and work. He's a fantastic player. He can be one of the best in the world."
