Young happy with first Villa season

Former Middlesbrough fullback Luke Young is happy with the way he settled at Aston Villa last season.

Young told AVTV: "When you go to a new club it is always about bedding in and getting to know your team-mates.

"No-one normally starts fantastically well. It was a bit of a slow burner or me trying to find my feet. I wasn't really up to the match fitness yet either so it was all a learning curve. As I progressed throughout the season I felt I got stronger and stronger."

The summer move from Middlesbrough came out of the blue for the Young, but once he arrived at Villa Park he was raring to go.

He added: "It was one of those things that really came out of the blue. Normally a transfer drags - are you going are you going to get picked to go to a new club. This one was really surprising, it happed all within two weeks. Villa came in for me and Boro accepted it as it was probably a good deal for all parties.

"So one minute I am training up at Boro and next minute I'm at Villa and raring to go."
