Ashley Young hailed Aston Villa's away fans after their Carling Cup victory at Portsmouth.
The scorer of Villa's fourth goal also praised the team's never-say-die attitude after coming from a goal down to secure a place in the competition's last four.
He told AVTV: "It was nice to score in front of the away support. They were tremendous as always - they are really like a 12th man for us on our travels.
"They weren't just cheering us on during the match - they were loud and signing during the warm-up too. You just wanted to go out there, put on a performance, get the result and send them home happy. We're delighted we did.
"We didn't get off to the best start - going 1-0 down - but we have great team spirit and tremendous character.
"We were always confident we could bounce back. I thought the performance from every member of the team was brilliant. From first minute to last, we were always on the front foot and always a threat.
"The first two goals were crackers. It was a great ball through ball for the first goal from Milly. He put Em through and it was a sensational finish.
"I am claiming an assist for Milly's goal for my throw-in. That was another brilliant strike.
"When we went in at half-time, we knew going back out there, they'd come out at us. We just had to weather the storm and I think we did that.
"As I said, I am claiming the assist for Milly's and Stew's goal too, even though my cross took a massive deflection. I'm also claiming the goal at the end."
