Young gun Gauld one of three Dundee Utd starlets included in Scotland U21 squad

Scotland U21 boss Billy Stark has included Dundee United youngster Ryan Gauld in his squad for next week's U21 European Championship qualifier against Georgia.

The 17-year old attacking midfielder, who recently signed a long-term new deal with the Terrors, has been rewarded for his promising early-season form at club level by receiving a call-up for the St Mirren Park fixture on November 14.

Gauld joins teammates Andrew Robertson and Stuart Armstrong in Stark's squad and the manager was thrilled to give the teenager a chance to shine for his country.

"I've seen quite a bit of him. He's still a young lad but we have some younger ones in the squad," said Stark.

"I saw Ryan most recently in the game at Tannadice against St Mirren and he was outstanding that day.

"He was in my thoughts for the last squad and he has just increased that with the performances he has had since then so I'm delighted to have him.

"First of all, he's a very talented footballer. Allied to that, he's inventive, creative and has a great appetite to affect the game. For one so young, that's a bit unusual.

"He is doing really well for a young one at the moment."
