Luke Young was happy to send Middlesbrough fans home happy with their 8-1 trouncing of Manchester City on the final day of the season.

The defender told Boro's website: "It was great to finish like that for the fans. We've had to wait until the last day of the season to give them a bit of a goal feast but it was nice.

"Everything we hit seemed to go in the net. Looking back at Steweys strike and Fabio's free kick, they were both fantastic goals."

Young added: "There have been signs this season that we're on the right track and hopefully next year we can be a bit more consistent and give that kind of performance more often.

"I've really enjoyed my first season at the club. At times it was a struggle to get up the league but in the end we've secured safety and I'm looking forward to the next campaign."
