Young Boys star Doumbia in Spurs sights

Tottenham are preparing a £10 million bid for Ivory Coast star Seydou Doumbia.

The Mirror says Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been monitoring the 21-year-old's progress and had club scouts watching him when he scored for Young Boys in their 2-0 win over Basle at the weekend.

Doumbia is widely expected to partner Didier Drogba up front for his country at next summer's World Cup - a prospect which has resulted in Tottenham being one of a number of big name clubs to show an interest in him.

Rubin Kazan, CSKA Moscow and a number of French clubs are believed to have shown an interest but the player's agent is adamant he will remain with Young Boys at least until after next summer's finals in South Africa.

"He will remain at Bern until June… I had already said this last summer and nobody believed me," said Jean-Bernard Beytrison.

Young Boys head coach Alain Baumann has also moved to set the record straight saying: "We have resisted some huge proposals…and we'll do it again this winter. We want to win the title and we need to have Seydou."
