Japanese defender Maya Yoshida made his fourth Premier League start in a row as Southampton extended their unbeaten streak on Tuesday night.
The Saints edged Hull City 1-0 at the KC Stadium to make it three wins and three draws from their past six league fixtures which has them sitting eighth on the table.
Yoshida and central defensive partner Jose Fonte, who scored the only goal, managed to keep dangerous Hull pair Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic quiet throughout allowing Mauricio Pochettino's side to record another victory.
The 25-year old former VVV-Venlo and Nagoya Grampus man came on late to replace Dejan Lovren when he was injured in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland on January 18. Since then he has started the past four outings which have produced a 2-2 draw with Arsenal, a 3-0 triumph at Fulham, the weekend's 2-2 draw with Stoke City and the victory over the Tigers.
