Yoshida disappointed with another Southampton home draw

Southampton star Maya Yoshida has expressed his disappointment after his side drew 2-2 against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

Yoshida was captaining the side on the day and a brace from Manolo Gabbiadini helped to secure a point for his side after Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez twice gave the Magpies the lead.

"We really ought to have won today," the Japanese international said. "Newcastle are in good form, a newly promoted club, but nonetheless we should be doing much better.

"I am pleased for Manolo but we conceded twice at the other end so we have no excuses. Our reaction after Newcastle's goals was good but that needs to be the standard right from kick-off."

The draw means leaves Southampton in 10th position on the Premier League standings with nine points from eight games. Newcastle lie in ninth position with 11 points from their eight games thus far.
