Southampton manager Ronald Koeman admits the club may have to delve into the winter transfer market.
The Saints have already lost Japanese centre-back Maya Yoshida to the Asian Cup in Australia and will now have to cope without on-loan Belgium international Toby Alderweireld who is expected to miss a month with a hamstring problem.
Koeman is aware of his defensive deficiencies and admits the south coast outfit may have to seek a January transfer in order to cover the loss of Yoshida and Alderweireld.
"I don't know (if we need to sign another centre half), we have to speak about that. We know that Maya will be away for some weeks, we know that," said the Dutchman.
"We knew already if we get some injuries then maybe it can be a problem but I think in our squad we can do some changes in positions to keep going."
