Yeung to have say on Bruce's new Birmingham contract

Prospective new Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung is looking over a new contract offer for manager Steve Bruce this weekend.

The Birmingham Mail says a two-year rolling deal has been agreed in principal with the present board, but has yet to be signed.

As Blues are in the throes of a takeover, it is not straightforward to change terms of employment for anyone at the club as the Stock Market will be casting a beady eye.

So the board will seek to get a rubber-stamp from Yeung, who is the single biggest shareholder at Blues and flew in for the defeat by Manchester United match last night.

The Hong Kong tycoon has insisted that he has no plans to replace Bruce as manager. But if he backs off from giving his blessing, then Bruce might have cause for alarm.

Bruce said: "Talks are on-going. They have been since May. It will be presented to the Chinese this weekend, so we will see."
