DeAndre Yedlin admits speaking with USA teammate Jozy Altidore ahead of joining Sunderland.

Yedlin signed for Sunderland on-loan from Tottenham a fortnight ago.

Asked if he had spoken to former Sunderland striker Altidore before making his move, Yedlin told SAFSee: "I did, yes. He just mentioned it's a great club.

"Obviously his time football-wise up here, he didn't have the best time, but he said it's a great club, great people.

"The weather isn't the best, but I'm used to that from where I'm from in Seattle, so it's not a big deal for me."
