Yaya Toure will not shy away from his current situation at Manchester City.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the veteran midfielder is intent on proving himself to City boss Pep Guardiola after being dropped from the club's Champions League squad.
Toure's agent, Dimitri Seluk, said earlier this week that he would be seeking a pre-contract agreement for Toure in January but it is understood that despite those comments, the player is eager not to rest on his laurels and try and force his way into Guardiola's plans.
Guardiola sold Toure to City when he was at the helm at Barcelona in 2010 and it appears as though the Spaniard is once again not keen on the services of the 33-year-old.
But Toure does not want to throw in the towel and will spend the rest of 2016 attempting to change the manager's views of him before assessing his options in the next transfer window.
Toure, who was won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups with City, is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium next summer.
