Hamilton have failed in a bid to sign Hibernian midfielder Fabian Yantorno on loan. It has emerged his capture would have been in breach of Scottish Premier League rules, which state a club can only take one player older than 21 on loan at a time - the Uruguayan midfielder is 26.
Hamilton boss Billy Reid said: "They allowed us to take Yantorno, he trained on Wednesday with the team and made an impression.
"But, unfortunately, due to red tape, Fabian won't join the club.
"We're a wee bit frustrated and disappointed about that."
Reid added: "We spoke to Hibs and we've already got one over-21 loan player in our squad. So the deal would have had to have been done slightly different to just a loan deal and then he could've gone back to Hibs.
"Hibs, I thought, agreed with that and things have changed a wee bit.
"Unfortunately, the deal won't go through."
