Yannick Carrasco and Kevin Gameiro both struck twice as Atletico Madrid beat Malaga 4-2 in a clash that saw both sides finish with 10 men.
Each man was on target as the hosts took an early 2-0 lead at the Vicente Calderon but Sandro Ramirez pulled a goal back.
Gameiro's second seemed to put Atletico back in command but Stefan Savic's dismissal gave Malaga an opening and Ignacio Camacho set up a potentially tense finish.
However, Carrasco eased home nerves after 86 minutes and Malaga's night ended with a red card for Gonzalo Castro.
