Xisco urges Newcastle to believe in team

Xisco has urged Newcastle United fans to stand by them.

Before last night's Carling Cup defeat to Tottenham, the former Deportivo La Coruna striker told the Evening Chronicle: "I think we have a good team with good players, but we have not demonstrated this on the pitch and we need to work a lot to change this position.

"I believe in this team because we have good players with great talent.

"Belief is the most important thing if we are to come out of this. We need a winning mentality.

"It is very difficult when you concede a goal after 10 or 20 minutes. We need to change that."

Xisco is confident once he settles in he will win the United fans over, adding: "It's not like in Spain. Here, two hours before a game people are around the stadium.

"The atmosphere is very good - I have never seen something like this."
