Xavi says Gerard Pique is a "vital player" for Barcelona.
The defender has been linked with a move away in recent weeks after being benched by coach Luis Enrique.
"Piqué is a fundamental, vital and essential player for Barça," declared Xavi yesterday.
Chelsea and former club Manchester United are monitoring Pique's situation ahead of the January market.
