Xavi is happy he chose to stay with Barcelona.

The veteran midfielder admits he came close to committing to New York City FC last summer.

"I turned 35 recently and I'm not in as good shape as before.

"However, as I've said before, I'm happy and feel I made the right decision to stay. I've said I thought about leaving but now I'm enjoying this new role. I grew up here at the club and I'm very happy."
