Xavi admits Barcelona's 6-1 thrashing of Atletico Madrid gave him "goose bumps". The midfielder was outstanding in the stunning performance and said afterwards: "The day I came back from injury was the most exciting, but last night also gave me goose bumps when the fans chanted my name.

"I do not know if I'm playing my best in my career, I am at ease and with great confidence. And the team is playing superbly."

Barca president Joan Laporta said: "This is the Barcelona that we all want. I'm happy because we gave no chance to Atletico, which is a great team.

"But we cannot give a lot of praise after only six league matches."
