Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso insists they could handle taking on Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals.

Both clubs are in the hat for today's draw.

"The seven other teams that remain in the championship deserve to be here," Xabi said on the club's official website.

"The draw on Friday will be interesting, but the quarter-finals will be very exciting regardless of who our opponents are.

"There are no easy games left and if the draw determines we should face Barcelona we will fight to the very end."
