Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is delighted with the impact of new signing Xabi Alonso.

Bayern snapped up Xabi from Real Madrid.

"I've been saying that Alonso was our most important signing for weeks," said Guardiola. "His new record didn't surprise me."

Xabi set a Bundesliga record for the most touches in a game, 204, shortly after joining the Germans.

"He's an intelligent player and he completely dominates the midfield."
