Xabi Alonso was delighted to be back in the starting line-up for Liverpool in their victory over Reading on Saturday.

Xabi fell out with manager Rafa Benitez last week after failing to travel with the squad for their Champions League clash at Inter Milan in order to be present for the birth of his son.

But the midfielder was back in action on the weekend and told liverpoolfc.tv: "It's been a great week, for the club of course and for me personally.

"It's really exciting and I am happy with everything at the moment."
