Shaun Wright-Phillips is looking for a permanent spot in Manchester City's line-up this year after a disappointing summer with the England national team.
The 28-year old is jockeying for a wing position with Adam Johnson and new recruit David Silva and has cut his summer holiday short to get on with the job and work hard ahead of the new English Premier League season .
"It was disappointing with what happened in the summer at the World Cup," he said.
"But now it's time to get the head down, pull on the boots and get on with it again.
"My only focus is to get on the pitch and do my thing. I am delighted to be back with the lads and straight into the banter.
"I was in LA for a while being well looked after and now I am ready to go."
