World Cup winner Banks backs Man Utd's Foster to be England No1

World Cup winner Gordon Banks believes Manchester United's Ben Foster can be England's outright No1.

Banks told The Times: "It's got to be the one who finishes the season in the best form.

"If Ben Foster can play for most of this season for United, he's got a real chance [of being Capello's first choice in South Africa].

"I don't know if this season alone is going to be enough, experience-wise, for him.

"If he'd got into the United team last season I'd have said, 'Yes, he's the one without doubt'.

"It looked like he was going to get more of a go last season, but injury and Edwin van der Sar's form dictated otherwise. That season was lost.

"Don't get me wrong, though, he might do it and I hope he does because for me, he is the future one.

"If he stays there at United, he's definitely your new England goalkeeper."
