World Cup protesters warned: Police will use rubber bullets!

Potential World Cup protesters have been warned that Brazilian police will take action in order to disperse mounting crowds.

More than a million protesters made themselves heard during the Confederations Cup this past summer and anarchist movement Black Bloc have suggested they will be at it again at the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro next year.

Despite this, a FIFA spokesman has made it clear that protests will not be tolerated during the tournament and that police will be forced to use rubber bullets to break things up.

"If crowds get violent, do you think a water cannon is going to disperse them?" he said, shrugging his shoulders. "You have to disperse them.

"A rubber bullet is a low level of action. It hurts, but what are police going to do? Use a pea shooter? Or water cannons? It doesn't work up to a point."
