WORLD CUP 2018: Japan equalise twice to hold Senegal

Japan and Senegal boosted their chances of making the knockout stages with a 2-2 draw with Ekaterinburg.

Eiji Kawashima's howler on the 11th minute mark allowed Sadio Mane to score Senegal's opening goal after the Japan goalkeeper tame punch hit the Liverpool star.

Japan had their equaliser after 34 minutes when Takashi Inui's curled strike nestled into Khadim N'Diaye's bottom corner.

Senegal thought they'd won it when 19-year-old Moussa Wague smashed the ball past Kawashima from a tight angle.

That was until Keisuke Honda equalised again for Japan just moments after coming off the bench. The 32-year-old, who was making his 97th appearance for his country, benefitted from N'Diaye's poor clearance attempt to finish from close range.

Both sides are now equal top of Group H with four points.
