Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to name Jonathan Woodgate in his 25-man Premier League squad.
The Guardian says Redknapp suggested last week that he would not be able to find a place for Woodgate in his squad which must comply with the Premier League's new regulations. The League has stipulated that managers must include at least eight home-grown players in a senior squad of no more than 25, although an unlimited number of Under-21s can supplement the group.
Happily for Woodgate he is currently among only 24 senior professionals at Redknapp's disposal, 13 of whom are home-grown, meaning that unless the manager signs two more players over the age of 21 than he sells before the closure of the transfer window on 31 August, the central defender will be certain to be named in the squad.
