WOMEN'S WORLD CUP: Japan book place in first ever final

Japan shrugged off the shock of going behind to rally and defeat Sweden 3-1 in the semi-finals and set up a meeting with the USA on Sunday. Japan suffered an early blow when Josefine Oqvist put Sweden ahead after 10 minutes, but Nahomi Kawasumi restored parity nine minutes later.

Midfielder Homare Sawa put the Japanese in front on the hour, and Kawasumi got her second goal taking advantage of Sweden keeper Hedvig Lindahl's error.

Sweden will take part in Saturday's third- place match against France, who lost 3-1 to the Americans in Wednesday's other semi-final.
