Wolves winger Hammill avoids jail term

Adam Hammill has escaped a jail term for assaulting two female paramedics it has been confirmed.

The 24-year old winger, who is on loan at Huddersfield Town, has not been jailed by the Liverpool Magistrates Court after being charged following an incident in Liverpool in early October.

Hammill was out drinking heavily for a friend's birthday when he collapsed and upon waking lashed out at the paramedics who were attempting to assist him.

The former Barnsley man has been given a suspended 12-week prison sentence, 150 hours of community service and a fine.

He was full of remorse for his involvement in the incident: "I would like to apologise to the people involved in this incident, as well as to the club and its supporters for letting them down. I'm thoroughly embarrassed by the whole affair and regret what happened.

"I would also like to thank the board and management at Huddersfield Town, as well as my family and friends, for their support during this time. I now want to repay that faith through my performances on the pitch and my conduct both on and off the field."
