Wolves are launching a £2.5 million bid for Marseille defender Ronald Zubar.

The Mirror says a fee was agreed yesterday and the powerful Guadeloupe-born defender is heading to England for a medical in the next few days.

Zubar, 23, was part of the Marseille squad that won the French title but he is available and the deal was thrashed out quickly.

The former France Under-21 star is just the type of strong-man leader that McCarthy wants at the heart of his defence.

He was wanted by Arsenal when he was younger and will now finally get a shot at the English Premier League.
