Wolves striker Vokes expects Bristol City return
Wolves striker Sam Vokes expects to return to Bristol City once he recovers from a hamstring injury.
He was just ten minutes into his loan period at Ashton Gate when he tore his hamstring. But, once fit, he hopes to return to City within the next few weeks.
“It was very frustrating,” said the forward, who spent time at Leeds last season.
“I thought I’d had a good pre-season and got up to a good level of fitness.
“I went out on loan to get some football and unfortunately within ten minutes tore my hamstring, which was a bit of a nightmare. I was just trying to bring a ball out of the air, which wasn’t the best idea looking back on it.
“I stretched a bit too far and it popped and it turned out that I tore it quite badly. It’s been three-and-a-half weeks now and will probably be the same again before I am back.
“But I’m making good progress. I’ve been outside doing a bit of jogging this week and it’s nice to be out of the gym.
“The loan runs to January so I think the plan is to go back to Bristol City. Hopefully I can get some game time, there which was the main objective of going out on loan.
“If I can do that I’ll hopefully get some goals as well.”
