Wolves signing Johnson shrugs off not getting top six club move

Wolves signing Roger Johnson has shrugged off the disappointment of not getting a move to a top six club.

Although there were rumours of bigger sides being linked with the former Cardiff City star he's glad that Wolves made their move and for him.

Johnson told talkSPORT: "You can take paper talk with a pinch of salt, there was a bit of interest [in me] if you looked at the papers. My agent did say there's a few clubs [interested] and Wolves were the ones that put their money where their mouth is and I'm pleased I've made that decision [to join them].

"I've been here the last two days and it's been good, the lads have accepted me well, there's a good bunch of lads here well and I'm really looking forward to working with the manager. I'm excited and just want the season to start.

"I'm not going to lie, of course I wanted one of so-called the top six sides and there were talks of those clubs but as I said there was a lot of umming and arring and Wolves were the ones that made the right noises.

"I'm not going to say I'm disappointed, I'm really pleased I've signed for Wolves, I can't wait to get the league season started and play with them but any footballer will tell you he'd want to play in a top six side, he's crazy if he doesn't."
