Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is planning a £4 million bid for Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne.

The Daily Star says McCarthy wants to bring the England Under-21 ace back to Wolves and will launch a bid to sign him this summer.

Mancienne, 21, impressed at Molineux during a two-month loan spell earlier this season and was recalled by Chelsea to challenge for a place at Stamford Bridge.

But he has only made one league start under new boss Guus Hiddink - and McCarthy wants to tempt Mancienne away to strengthen his newly-promoted side.
