Wolves lose Keogh for three months

Wolves striker Andy Keogh is out for three months with ankle ligament damage.

Keogh is set to undergo surgery after suffering the setback in training on Thursday.

Keogh started the season as first-choice strike partner to record signing Kevin Doyle but has since lost his place to the fit-again Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

But Keogh is still regarded as one of the club's brightest prospects and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy admitted it is a hammer blow to the player.

McCarthy said: "Very sadly, Andy damaged his ankle ligaments and tendon and will have to have an operation. He will be out of action for 12 weeks.

"It is a huge blow because he is a great kid and he was devastated when he heard the news (of the damage) after he did it in training yesterday.

"He was running through on goal and got clipped as he landed. He scored and jumped over (keeper) Wayne Hennessey and then just rocked his ankle."
