Wolves keeper Murray hit with injury setback

Wolves crock Matt Murray has suffered a fresh setback and has been ruled out for several months with a knee injury.

The keeper has not made a first-team appearance for Wolves since May 2007, but recently hit the comeback trail after being sidelined for a year due to a ruptured patella tendon suffered on loan at Hereford United.

The 28 year old featured for the reserves against Birmingham City last month, but lasted just 23 minutes of the game before coming off as a precaution.

"Matt won't be fit until next year," Wolves boss Mick McCarthy told the club's official website.

"We're in December now obviously, but it is going to be months.

"There's no surgery required, but he needs to get the knee sorted out and is going to be out for a few months.

"It's difficult for all players when they get injured, but Matt will keep fighting on.

"He was at least happy that there was no further surgery needed."
