Wolves keeper Hahnemann hoping for World Cup chance

Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann is desperately hoping he will finally get his World Cup chance with the USA national team this year.

The 37-year old has constantly been edged out of the number one spot in the national team ever since his debut in 1994 but he is keeping his fingers crossed that South Africa 2010 might be the time for him to experience what a World Cup is really all about.

I thought when Kasey Keller retired I might get my chance but then Tim Howard came straight out of the MLS and into Manchester United," he said.

"When (Brad) Friedel retired from international football, I thought I might get my chance. But we've got Brad Guzan, the No.2 at Villa too, so we've got some really good keepers.

"With Tim having started 95 per cent of the games in the last couple of years, it's probably between me and Brad Guzan for the second and third choices.

"But there's probably a 99 per cent chance I'm not going to play because of Tim Howard and Brad Guzan.

"I still haven't played a World Cup game yet but it's everyone's dream to play there. For me, it's an honour just to be there."
