Wolves get through but McCarthy unhappy

Mick McCarthy was unhappy with his sides performance in the 4-2 Carling Cup win over Notts County.

Wolves fell behind in the 57th minute and only kicked into gear when Notts had Liam Chilvers sent off in the 82nd minute, scoring three goals in 12 minutes to take a 3-1 lead into half-time of extra-time.

Notts hit back through Kevin Smith in the 114th minute before Kevin Doyle grabbed his second one minute from full-time to help his side to a win.

But the showing was not met with much positivity by McCarthy who blasted his sides overall presentation.

"If you are looking for positives, then Kevin (Doyle) and Steven (Fletcher) provided them because they are top class, the pair of them," he said.

"But Notts County were excellent and did to us what we did to Spurs for 75 minutes at the weekend.

"This time we got a penalty and the win seems a bit unjust on them. But I felt the same against Spurs.

"I want to take nothing away from Notts County. They played well. But our performance was very poor.

"It was a Premier League team, no trialists, no youth teamers, and we ought to have been capable of playing better."
