Wolves fullback Halford: Keane favoured Man Utd, Irish players at Sunderland

Wolves fullback Greg Halford has launched a scathing attack on his former Sunderland boss Roy Keane.

He said: "Obviously I would like to forget what happened but at the same time I want to go back up there and prove to myself that I was good enough and put a few wrongs right.

"I never really had a chance to do that. I had a couple of games here and there but no run in the side like I have at Wolves. It was always stop-start.

"And it was never explained why. Roy Keane is the type of person that once he has made his decision he doesn't have to explain it to anyone. He keeps it to himself.

"Once his mind is made up it is made up and there is no changing it. It turned into a personal thing.

"There was a lot of stuff that happened behind the scenes which I don't really want to get into, and obviously that didn't help either. It was very frustrating. I was training well everyday, putting everything into it.

"But once he had his favourite team in mind, that was it and there was nothing I could do about it - especially when Phil Bardsley came in, ex-Manchester United.

"All he ever seemed to sign was ex-Manchester United or Irish.
