Wolves friendly better late than never!

Wolves will finally get the chance to take on Athletic Bilbao - 54 years after a players' strike led to the cancellation of their first friendly. Mick McCarthy's side will face the Spaniards, who finished eighth in La Liga last season, at Molineux on Saturday August 7 at 3pm, reports the Birmingham Mail.

A game scheduled for March 14, 1956, a sell out, was called off because of a wage dispute when Stan Cullis' Wolves players refused to take part after a vote as they were being paid just £2 a week before tax.
