Wolves Fletcher desperate to impress club and country by scoring goals

Steven Fletcher hopes to convince Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and Scotland coach Craig Levein he should be a central part of their plans. Record signing Fletcher has been unable to command a regular spot since his £7 million summer move from Burnley to Molineux with Kevin Doyle also used as the only striker.

Fletcher has also been left out of the Scotland squad for the last three matches - including this week's clash with the Faroe Islands.

He said: "I haven't been getting much action recently but when the gaffer does give me opportunities, hopefully I'll take them.

"I've got the self belief to score goals and hopefully I can get a start.

"I'm happy to do a job for the team. I played wide on Saturday and I scored when I was playing wide at Tottenham.

"As for Scotland, if I continue scoring goals then hopefully I'll be in there on merit.

"He (Levein) said I wasn't in the squad because I wasn't playing.

"But I just need to keep scoring goals then hopefully I'll get an opportunity."
