Wolves emerge as shock rivals to Liverpool for Benfica star Talisca

Championship club Wolves have reportedly edged ahead of Liverpool in the race for Talisca Anderson.

The Sun is reporting that the Wolverhampton outfit are more likely to sign the Benfica attacking midfielder than Liverpool because he will able to obtain a work permit more easily to play in England's second tier.

Chinese billionaire Robin Li is closing in on a £40million takeover of Wolves and with super agent Jorge Mendes heavily involved, it could see Talisca make the move to the Molineux.

The Brazilian is a client of Mendes' and it is understood that he is open to playing in the Championship even though the top flight Reds are preparing a bid for his services.

Wolves are now looking to swoop in with a £21m offer for Talisca as they get set to take advantage of work permit difficulties holding up any potential shift to Anfield.
