Wolves defender Stearman aiming for more success with England U21

Wolves defender Richard Stearman says there's great belief in the England U21 camp of success at the European Championships.

"There has got to be belief or there is no point being here," said Stearman. "It's great saying you want the experience but we want to win things.

"That last tournament though, I'm sure, has made them stronger and people and professionals."

Stearman is on a high after promotion with Wolves, and with the prospect of Premier League football next season.

"With winning the Championship, it will be a perfect end if we do well in this tournament," Stearman said.

"I've spent my whole career in the Championship so I've been dying to get chance at the Premier League and hopefully I can get a few chances next season.

"This tournament will be a good preparation. There are some good players out here, the cream of the crop in Europe, and it will stand me in good stead."

Wolves are back in pre-season training early, on June 29, and Stearman could be a late arrival.

"There could be an overlap if we reach the final," he said. "But obviously this will keep me fit as well."
