Wolves defender Berra: Playing Brazil was good lesson for Scotland

Scotland's Christophe Berra believes losing to Brazil is a much more valuable lesson than defeating the likes of Northern Ireland or the Faroe Islands.

The Wolves centre-half was at the forefront of the Scotland defence which had to deal with a talented Brazilian outfit at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and despite losing 2-0, he feels that the hit-out will do the Scotland team the world of good.

"It is a different league altogether to playing the Faroes or Northern Ireland," Berra told SunSport.

"A game against Brazil will do a lot more for us, even if we lost.

"They have so many good players, they play with such freedom, that you can learn a lot. "I think our creative players will learn too, not just the defenders.

"Mostly they'll learn that if you give the ball away against top opposition you'll be punished. "We did that a couple of times but there are young players in this squad still learning the international game.

"Looking at the age profile of the squad, if we stick together then hopefully in years to come we can be a good team."
