Wolves could push midfield trio forward for Liverpool clash

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has indicated that three midfield players could be selected to take on Liverpool in the Premier League on the weekend.

The Wolverhampton club hammered Millwall 5-0 in the Carling Cup last night with many thanks to Dave Edwards, Nenad Milijas and Adlene Guedioura who all starred in the Molineux victory.

Edwards was back from more than six months out with a back injury, Milijas was handed a rare start and Guedioura is back in contention after a ankle/foot injury following his broken leg last season and McCarthy said it was great for squad strength to get a game into these types.

"It's nice because we got Adlene, David and Nenad back out there and these players needed the game," he told Express & Star.

"Whether it's for Saturday or not, I know these players are up to match speed and, if I need to call on them, I can.

"They all did themselves a huge service by playing as well as they did. They all closed down well and worked hard.

"It gave a few people the chance to play, which they needed."
