Wolves chief Moxey: We wanted to buy Chelsea defender Mancienne

Wolves chief Jez Moxey says they were serious about trying to initially land loan signing Michael Mancienne permanently from Chelsea.

Moxey re-iterated that Wolves were interested in a permanent deal for Chelsea's Michael Mancienne, but re-negotiated a season-long loan when the clubs' valuations differed on the England-under-21 star.

"We made what we thought was a very good offer for Michael, but Chelsea were quite forthright with what they wanted and we weren't prepared to go anywhere near that sort of money," Moxey told the Wolves website.

"They weren't able to accept it and so they agreed to a loan which we were very pleased with.

"People know how we operate because we've been doing it for a number of years now.

"I think it further reinforces the view that we won't pay more than we think is appropriate for any player."
