Wolves chief Moxey confident Doyle back ahead of schedule

Wolves chief Jez Moxey is hopeful that Kevin Doyle will be back ahead of schedule after he suffered a knee injury.

Doyle is out for between four and eight weeks after tearing his medial knee ligament for the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, a prognosis for which the worst case scenario would mean recovery just after Wolves complete the season against Blackburn on May 22.

But Moxey believes he has a chance of being back before that date.

"Clearly we're all very disappointed about Kevin's injury and none more so than the player himself," Moxey told the Wolves website.

"He was putting his body on the line and has now got injured when we've got eight games remaining in the Premier League. The manager is philosophical about it because we live with international football which is clearly a mixed blessing sometimes.

"Everyone wants to play for their country but when they do play they run the risk of getting injured. Kevin has got a medial ligament tear and I'm pleased to say it's not as bad as we first thought.

"The prognosis is four to eight weeks and if it's eight weeks than that rules him out.

"Kevin is a quick healer and he has done this before so the ligaments are quite thick anyway and we have started the rehabilitation process.

"Hopefully he'll be back sooner rather than later."
