Wolves boss Solbakken confident of avoiding sack

Wolves have slumped to 18th in the Championship, after only one win in their last five league matches, but boss Stale Solbakken is confident of avoiding the axe. And responding to questions from BBC WM over his future, the summer appointment replied: "That is not for me to answer.

"I've not heard anything that suggests anything else [over his future], and I would certainly go on like I always have and try to turn it around."

Norwegian Solbakken was named as Wolves boss in May following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

"At this moment in time, everything is going the way we don't want it to go," Solbakken said.

"They're trying and I don't want to blame any players because I see they are down - the last thing we should do is pull excuses. I've got to take the responsibility and so do the players.

"It's only together we can get out of the very big hole we are in at the moment."
