Wolves boss McCarthy urges Blackpool's Holloway to stick around

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has lent support to Blackpool boss Ian Holloway for making extensive changes to his line-up in recent matches.

Holloway made 10 changes to his side from their draw with Everton on November 6 for the 3-2 loss to Aston Villa four days later and is likely to be punished by the Premier League for his actions.

The Seasiders manager has stated that he intends to quit his post if action is taken by league officials but McCarthy, who was fined when he performed a similar action for Wolves against Manchester United last season, has urged Holloway to stay strong.

"Ian has earned his right to be in the Premier League," McCarthy said.

"He has brought something to it, his team have graced it so far. I think they've been great.

"I wouldn't want to see him quit over this (team changes). He'd be mad.

"But they will 'do' him, I'm convinced. If they don't, then what was all that I went through last season about?

"I don't think it's wrong (what Holloway did) because I think you should be able to do what you want," he added.

"I was told in no uncertain terms that we couldn't do it at a Premier League meeting at Villa Park where all my arguments were shot down."
